Around 70,000 Passengers Travel on FPC Moscow - Paris Train
OREANDA-NEWS. December 18, 2013. In the two years since the Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, launched its Moscow - Berlin - Paris operation on 12 December 2011, international train No. 23/24 has transported more than 69,630 passengers.
In 2012, train No. 23/24 Moscow - Berlin - Paris carried 35,843 passengers, while 31,434 passengers had already travelled by 11 December this year.
In connection with the introduction of a new international timetable, since 17 December 2013 train No. 23/24 will run three times a week, departing from Moscow's Belosrusskaya Station at 08:43 on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays and arriving in Paris at 20:31 on Tuesdays, Fridays and Mondays. Total travel time is 38 hours 48 minutes.
The train will depart from Gare de L'Est in Paris at 08:28 on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Tuesdays and arrive in the Russian capital at 00:58 on Fridays, Mondays and Thursdays. Travel time is 37 hours 30 minutes).
Paris arrival and departure times are local.
The Federal Passenger Company offers convenient tariff programmes for various categories of passengers on the Moscow - Paris train.
Passengers aged 12 to 26, as well as seniors over 60, can take advantage of discounts when purchasing tickets for any class of carriage and benefit from the special rates Junior, Junior-Single, Senior, Senior-Single, which give 30 % off the total ticket price.
Children between the ages of 4 and 12 travel at the children's fare, which amounts to a 50% discount off the adult fare.
Organised groups of passengers consisting of 6 or more people can obtain a group discount of 20% off the total fare.
For groups of 20 or more passengers, the Voyage tariff applies, which offers an enhanced group discount of 40% and of 20% on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
The Federal Passenger Company also offers the following discounts:
5 % on upper berths in all classes and kinds of carriage (as well as middle berths in RIC carriages with 3 berths);
Depending on the time for which tickets are on sale (the depth of sales), 10% when tickets for carriages of all types are booked from 60 to 45 days before train departure.
These discounts apply when individual passengers book tickets and can be added together, as well as added to one of the tariffs available to the passenger.
The Federal Passenger Company has also introduced a special Wedding fare for couples on their honeymoon (available within 1 month) and a Celebratory fare when the passenger buys a ticket on her birthday, as well as when embarking on a journey within 7 days (inclusive) before and/or after her birthday. The discount is 35% in both cases.
