OREANDA-NEWS. ENEVA's power plant Parnaiba IV received on December 13 the authorization of the National Regulatory Agency for Electricity to start commercial operation as a power self-producer. In partnership with ENEVA-E.ON joint venture and Petra Energia, the company signed an agreement on the free market aiming to supply 46 average MW at BRL 54 million per year for a period of five years. With 56 MW installed capacity, this plant is part of the Parnaiba Complex in Santo Antonio dos Lopes, in the state of Maranhao.

Parnaiba IV was synchronized to the National Interconnected System (SIN) on November 28, 2013 and plant nominal capacity was reached on the same day. The power plant comprises three generating units, each one with an installed capacity of 18,8 MW.

After the start up, which firmly establishes ENEVA as an energy supplier that also caters to free market demand, the Parnaiba Complex has reached 901 MW operational installed capacity, and natural gas consumption now totals 6 million of cubic meters per day.

ENEVA does business in the power generation and trading sector and owns supplementary natural gas exploration and production businesses. Currently ENEVA has 2.4 GW gross installed capacity in operation and 524 MW more are now in construction, being thus among the largest private sector power generation companies in Brazil. ENEVA also owns stakes in onshore natural gas blocks in the Parnaiba Basin that are integrated to company own power generation plants, with an average contracted production of up to 8.4 million cubic meters per day.
