OREANDA-NEWS. Trubodetal JSC (Chelyabinsk, a part of United Metallurgical Company, CJSC OMK) has been announced as the winner in the Production and Technical Goods category of the 100 Best Products contest. The win was for developing and producing a new type of fitting for the South Stream pipeline.

In addition to the certificate for winning the contest, the product was named “New Product of the Year.”

To produce new fittings, an absolutely new manufacturing technology was introduced at the plant. It involves using special steel grades and a unique method of stamping and thermal treatment. The pipeline fittings to be utilized at a pressure of 28.45 MPa (the fittings submitted to the contest for the Production and Technical Goods category) will be used in the construction of the “Russkaya” compressor station of the main pipeline, “South Stream.”

“Our product was announced as the contest winner because of its great importance. It was developed for the construction of a very important Gazprom project-the South Stream pipeline,” stated Director of Technical Development of Trobudetal, Maxim Permyakov. “We are proud of the fact that we were the first to master the production of fittings for a project of such strategic importance. We are glad that the contest jury highly appreciated our work.”
