Two New Oil Pumping Stations Launched on Kazakhstan-China Pipeline
OREANDA-NEWS. “KazTransOil” JSC announces that on 13-14 December 2013 “Kazakhstan-China Pipeline” LLP accepted in operation OPS 8 and OPS 10 of “Atasu-Alashankou” main oil pipeline.
Construction of two new OPS was performed within the frames of implementation of the second phase the second stage of construction of Kazakhstan-China main oil pipeline network. Commencing of work of given operational facilities enables increasing throughput capacity of “Atasu-Alashankou” oil pipeline up to 20 MTA.
Financing of construction of the facilities was made at the expense of the funds of “Kazakhstan-China Pipeline” LLP. The actual costs from the beginning of project implementation on OPS 8 equal to 9,3 bln. KZT (exclusive of VAT), on OPS 10 - 11, 6 bln. KZT (exclusive of VAT).
The operational facilities of OPS are equipped with modern automated supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA), commercial power meter, fire and gas alarm. The entire set of technological, administrative and domestic buildings and constructions complies with modern requirements of labor organization and industrial safety.
The operation personnel of OPS 8 and OPS 10, due to their remoteness from the populated areas, will be working on a rotation basis. In total 124 new workplaces were created on new operation facilities. A part of staff was selected from the number of local people, who have already passed necessary training.

Setting the right priorities, the company thus confirms its reputation as a reliable and perspective partner, which annually and sustainably executes its main function - ensures continuous and timely transportation of oil to all consumers.
“Atasu-Alashankou” oil pipeline is a part of Kazakhstan-China main oil pipeline network. From the moment of launch of “Atasu-Alashankou” in 2006 and till 2012 52,1 mln. tons were transported via it ( out of them in 2006- 2,2 mln. tons, in 2012 - 10,4 mln. tons). For 11 months of c.y. the volume of oil throughput in “Atasu-Alashankou” oil pipeline equaled to 10,9 mln.tons.
The owner of “Atasu-Alashankou” oil pipeline is “Kazakhstan-China Pipeline” LLP - a joint venture of “KazTransOil” JSC and CNODC.
“KazTransOil” JSC - a national operator of the Republic of Kazakhstan on main oil pipeline. Owns 50-percent interest in “Kazakhstan-China Pipeline” LLP and 51-percent of stocks in “MunaiTas” NWPC JSC.
Implementation of the project of construction of Kazakhstan - China pipeline passes in two stages, with pipeline capacity on I stage 10 MTA and increase of capacity up to 20 MTA after completion of II stage of construction. Within the frames of the first stage of project implementation “Kenkiyak - Atyrau” (2003, owned by “MunaiTas” NWPC JSC) and “Atasu-Alashankou” (2006, owned by “Kazakhstan-China Pipeline” LLP) oil pipelines were constructed Implementation of II stage includes two phases. Within the first stage a main pipeline “Kenkiyak - Kumkol” (2009 owned by “Kazakhstan- China Pipeline” LLP), HOPS Kumkol (2009, owned by “KazTransOil” JSC) were built. Within the frames of the second stage reversal of oil pumping direction is planned and construction of 4 additional pump stations on “Atyrau-Kenkiyak” section, construction of 3 pump stations on на участке “Kenkiyak - Kumkol” section and increase of throughput capacity of “Kumkol-Karakoin” and “Karakoin-Atasu” of oil pipelines.
