Sberbank Concludes Cooperation Agreements with 3 Chinese Banks
OREANDA-NEWS. December 13, 2013. During a business trip to China, a Sberbank delegation concluded bilateral agreements on cooperation with the Bank of Beijing, the Bank of Harbin and the Industrial Bank. The documents define the main areas of planned cooperation of the parties on basic banking products: trade finance, documentary business, correspondent relationships and settling in Russian and Chinese currencies, global capital markets operations and investment banking services.
Furthermore, the Sberbank delegation held talks with the senior management of the international units of the "Big Four" banks (Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, China Construction Bank), in the course of which the preliminary results of cooperation during the current year and further plans were announced.
The visit of the delegation performed the tasks outlined in the recently adopted Sberbank’s Development Strategy for the period 2014-2018 in the part of the international development of the Bank.
Alexander Dementyev, Head of the delegation, Head of the Financial Institutions Division of Sberbank, commented on the results of the trip: "We have been present in China since 2010 when we opened our office in Beijing. This country is Russia's main trading partner, our largest customers operate here and therefore we consider China the most important financial region for us. Now the turnover of our operations - both passive and active - with partner financial institutions in China is calculated in billions of dollars. And we will grow it in all directions and through all different products both with our established partners and new partners”.
