OREANDA-NEWS. Vale has taken the top spot in a ranking that measured sustainability disclosure among Brazilian companies. In addition, it was the only company in the country to divulge all seven of the sustainability indicators set by the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange, BM&FBovespa, on which our stocks are listed. This data was revealed through a global survey involving 3,972 companies that was carried out by the Canadian investment research company CK Capital, a division of Corporate Knights.

Published exclusively in the Valor Economico newspaper this Tuesday, December 10, the report by the international consultancy firm highlights Vale as an 'example of excellence' in the disclosure of its information. According to the report, only 117 companies throughout the world disclose data on the seven sustainability indicators on an annual basis.

The survey evaluated the extent to which the biggest companies in the world disclose information on employee turnover, water and energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, workplace accidents, remuneration policies and waste disposal.

We were also placed well in the ranking of companies in emerging markets. Among the 117 companies evaluated, only three were highlighted as examples of transparency: Vale, an Indian company and a Malaysian company.
