Ukraine Strengthens Trade and Economic Ties with Estonia
OREANDA-NEWS. December 12, 2013. Ukraine and Estonia have determined principal directions for future economic and social cooperation. Minister of Social Policy Nataliya Korolevska said in Tallinn, Estonia in the end of th third meeting of Ukrainian-Estonian intergovernmental commission on trade, industrial and scientific-technical cooperation.
According to her, the commission is intended to enhance interaction of the two countries in the areas that pose mutual interest.
“Today it is necessary not just to speak about the need of Eurointegration, but to make steps in this direction. In particular, presently the Commission will demonstrate efficiency. The protocol of conclusions contains key directions of our cooperation. The range is very large: from protection of environment to space area,” she said.
Notably, according to the Minister, there was signed a Memorandum of understanding between the State Agency for Investment and Management of National Projects of Ukraine and Fund of Entrepreneurship Development of Estonia.
“Ukraine is interested in realization of huge joint economic projects, first of all, in transport, investment, energy and infrastructure. We must do everything in order to resume and enhance the volume of economic ties. So there exists a huge unused potential in this area,” she said.
According to the Minister, on the results of the meeting of the Commission the parties achieved understandings concerning the development of joint economic projects. Notably, it concerns cargo transportation The Baltic Sea – the Black Sea (the ZUBR container train) and a joint project with VKG industrial group (extraction and processing of shale from Bovtyske deposit in Kyrovohrad region).
“I am convinced that basis for stirring up the economic cooperation has been created. It will be possible to evaluate our work in 2015 during the next meeting of the Commission in Kyiv,” the Minister summed up.
