OREANDA-NEWS. December 12, 2013. The 2013 Yanbu’ Area Process Automation and System Security Forum and Exhibition was held. The event was organized as a partnership between the Yanbu’ NGL Fractionation and Process Control Systems departments and was held at a Yanbu’-area hotel under the theme of “Optimization through Reliable and Secure Process Automation Systems.”

The event attracted world-class experts, experienced Saudi Aramco engineers and  local industry specialists from SABIC and Saudi Aramco’s joint venture companies such as SAMREF, YASREF and SASREF. The diverse turnout of specialists helped produce a high level of discussion throughout the forum.

The exhibition was opened by Shaker Mahrous, YNGLFD manager, and Yahya Abu Shal, Yanbu’ Refinery manager.

Mahrous welcomed the presenters and exhibitors, who traveled from around the globe to attend the event and exchange experiences about the event’s theme.

Mahrous noted the world has witnessed the birth of advanced technologies that are mostly cyber-related. On one hand, life is becoming more efficient, productive and probably more enjoyable, said Mahrous. On the other hand, life is getting more risky, he added. The evolution into this open era of communication has brought with it a massive challenge related to cyber-security, said Mahrous.

The exhibition area attracted many international companies from the security and automation fields. Attendees and visitors gained first-hand information from the company representatives, who presented the visitors with the latest technologies that their companies offer.
