OREANDA-NEWS. Baltic Workboats shipyard was named Estonia’s defense enterprise of the year at the annual defense industry forum.

“Baltic Workboats is a company that builds mostly seagoing craft for civilian purposes, but it earned the award for five innovative boats built for the Swedish coast guard that have been specifically designed with economy and efficiency in view, taking into consideration the typical post-crisis defense budgets,” said defense chief Maj. Gen. Riho Terras who presented the award.

The panel that chose the top entry for the title consisted of the commander of the defense forces, a deputy secretary general of the Defense Ministry, the secretary general of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, CEO of the business support agency Enterprise Estonia and three members of the board of the Estonian Defense Industry Association.
