Transaero Undertakes Disability Equality and Awareness Training
OREANDA-NEWS. Transaero Airlines in partnership with Perspektiva, an organization which aims to promote independence and an improved quality of life for disabled people in the Russian community, held a training course for its employees on customer services for disabled passengers.
During the course Perspektiva experts and Transaero employees thoroughly examined communication aspects, ethical behavior and practical cases when dealing with passengers with disabilities at every stage of air travel.
This course is an obligatory part of Transaero's training programme and is held for the airline's employees on a regular basis.
“Disabled passengers are willing to travel and they are willing to travel on their own. Our task is to make sure they have this opportunity and to do our best to guarantee their safety and comfort during flights. One of the vital parts of creating barrier-free air travel environment is teaching the personnel every aspect of serving disabled passengers, responding to their requests and explaining psychological issues” - said Olga Pleshakova, CEO Transaero Airlines.
The educational courses of the Transaero Aviation Training Centre meet the highest international training standards. Unique educational and checking software, as well as a number of special guides aid Transaero staff in learning how to work with disabled passengers.
Denise Roza, Director of Perspektiva Organization, said: “People with disabilities often face obstacles while traveling. I really appreciate our long-term cooperation with Transaero Airlines and their sincere support to enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities. I am pleased our organization has partnered with Transaero in developing and leading corporate trainings on how to best serve passengers with disabilities. It is clear nobody can describe the needs of people with disabilities to businesses better than themselves.”
The next session of trainings involving Perspektiva experts is scheduled for December, in the Southern Federal District. It is aimed at helping employees to get ready to serve Paralympians arriving at Sochi.
In 2008 Transaero launched a comprehensive training programme aimed to creating barrier-free air travel environment and enhancing the quality of life of people with disabilities. The programme involves the adaptation of the company's service standards to the requirements of disabled passengers, as well as supporting sport and cultural events including wheelchair dancing, special competitions, sport marathons and exhibitions. Transaero is the only transportation company present on the Business Advisory Board on Disability, an initiative created by Perspektiva and several Russian and international organizations.
