Moldova Approves Plan on Production of Energy from Renewable Sources
OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2013. The document was developed for implementation of the country's Energy Strategy till 2030. The measures shall promote the production of wind power, modernization of centralized heating systems, cogeneration plants, etc.
Another challenge of the Energy strategy is to connect the electric power system of the country to the European system ENTSO - E, which will facilitate access to the balancing means and will provide reserve capacity for continuous electricity production on the basis of wind sources. To support the use of renewable energy sources for electricity production it is planned to promote the idea of organization of tender for construction of new generating capacities, the principle of acquisition and distribution of electricity produced at the power plants, operating on renewable energy sources, as well as an adjustable rate for the production of energy from the renewable energy sources and bio-fuels.
The total volume of new capacities will make about 400 MW by 2020. Electricity prices proposed by the investors at the auctions will be the main criteria for determination of winners. As the press service of the Ministry of Economy informs, according to the approved plan, the energy from renewable sources will be produced mainly by the wind electro-stations since 2015.
The production of wind energy will be partially complemented by electricity, produced from biogas, starting in 2014, as well as electricity produced by the existing mini hydropower stations, which share in 2009 accounted for about 2% of the energy produced from the renewable sources in the total power balance of the country.
