OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2013. Moscow is hosting the environmentalist forum IV All-Russian Environmental Protection Convention in partnership with MMC Norilsk Nickel.

Russia’s President  Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev sent their compliments to the attendants. An address by Russia’s Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Sergey Donskoy opened the convention.

Speeches and panel discussions covered a wide range of environmental issues, including creation of a Federal Ecology Council under the Ministry of Natural Resources, extending the list of conservation areas, draft state program of climate research, and development of environmental protection public private partnership.

In characterizing Norilsk Nickel’s environmental policy Sergey Dyachenko, Deputy General Director – Chief of Operations, who represented the Company at the convention said: “Norilsk Nickel establishes its development and operations strategy firmly grounded in the notion that stringent adherence to social and environmental responsibility principles are essential for sustainable and efficient development.”
