Alcoa Russia Named to Top 10 List of Corporate Philanthropy Leaders
OREANDA-NEWS. Alcoa Russia is included in the Top 10 list of 2013 Leaders in Corporate Philanthropy ranking. 63 Russian and international companies which implement their corporate social responsibility programs in Russia were assessed in this project organized by the Forum of Donors (Noncommercial Partnership of Grant Makers), PwC auditing and consulting network and Vedomosti business daily. Alcoa Russia is also included in the Top 5 list in Industrial Sector subranking as part of this nationwide research.
Maxim Smirnov, President Alcoa Russia, commented on this recognition: “We have been taking part in the Leaders in Corporate Philanthropy ranking for six consecutive years since its foundation both as applicants and as a member of the judging panel. Alcoa Russia employees are the main contributors to the all-Russian recognition of our community initiatives. They held about 60 events in Moscow, Samara and Belaya Kalitva and volunteered 7,000 hours to this work during Alcoa's Month of Service in October. I would like to thank our partners who help us implement the Alcoa Foundation Programs. Since 2005 Alcoa and Alcoa Foundation have invested over 8 million dollars in the communities where Alcoa operates”.
The total USD 8 million of community investments of Alcoa and Alcoa Foundation in Russia include USD 4.1 million in Samara, USD 2.9 million in Rostov region and USD 1.2 in Moscow. Alcoa Foundation in Russia focuses on technical education support, environmental education and wellness. In 2011 Alcoa earned Top Honors in the Corporate Philanthropy Leaders ranking.
Corporate Philanthropy Leaders ranking is a joint project by the Forum of Donors (Noncommercial Partnership of Grant Makers), PwC auditing and consulting network and Vedomosti business daily. The goal of the nationwide project is to mark the best corporate community programs and promote corporate social responsibility in business and community. The methodology of the ranking assesses the systematic approach to community work including its mission, goals, compliance with company strategy, choice of programs and their effectiveness, etc.
