OREANDA-NEWS. Japan Airlines (JAL) and Qatar Airways (QR), both members of the oneworld alliance, have entered a codeshare agreement with each other for the first time and will commence codeshare flights from December 3, 2013 on QR-operated flights between Tokyo(Narita) and Doha as well as between Osaka(Kansai) and Doha. Meanwhile, QR will place its flight indicator on JL-operated flights between Tokyo (Narita) and Sapporo (New Chitose), Fukuoka, and the flights from Tokyo (Haneda), Sapporo (New Chitose) to Osaka (Kansai), from Osaka (Itami) to Tokyo (Narita), from Nagoya (Chubu) to Tokyo (Narita) as well as from Tokyo (Narita) to Okinawa (Naha) in Japan.   

QR was launched in 1997, quickly established itself as one of the world's fastest growing and highest quality airlines, joined the oneworld(r) alliance on October 30, 2013. At that time, it operated a modern fleet of 130 aircraft, one of the world's youngest, with an average age of four years, including the world's newest passenger jet, the Boeing 787, boarded 17 million passengers in 2012.QR is serving more than 130 key business and leisure destinations in 70 countries across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, North and South America, Asia and Australasia, with scheduled flights operating to and from its hub in Doha, capital of the State of Qatar. QR was named Airline of the Year by the Skytrax independent airline quality rating agency in both 2012 and 2011, and runner-up in 2013.   

The Middle East is one of the world's fastest growing regions for air travel demand. JAL's new codeshare services on QR-operated flights from Japan to Doha will offer our customers more convenience of transiting to South Europe, Middle East and Africa etc.   

JAL will strengthen the partnership with QR to bring increasing convenience and more service benefits to customers with its expanding network.
