OREANDA-NEWS. NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport has expanded the departure area of Terminal A (domestic terminal) by increasing the area of sterile zone by 30% for up to 6000 square meters.

The conducted modification of Terminal A is aimed at improving service quality for all passengers including transfer passengers departing from Novosibirsk. The number of food service outlets in the extended sterile zone will be substantially increased adding such brands as Burger King, New York Pizza, Subway, Traveler's Coffee and others.

The sector of passengers pre-screening was moved closer to the departure area and is now located on the second floor of the terminal near the escalators. Service of passengers in the new control zone commenced on November 22. After the reorganization of departure area the number of seats on a second floor was not reduced.

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The domestic airline capacity makes up 1,800 passengers per hour, on international flights - 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways. In 2013 it expects to serve over 3.7 million passengers.
