OREANDA-NEWS. Aeroflot took the first place in the annual nomination "The Quietest Airline" run by Vaclav Havel Airport (Prague).

This annual prize was handed for the seventh time under joint environmental protection program of the airport and the City Hall of Prague. In 2013, the category featured world's leading airlines operating regular flights to Prague, such as Air France, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, CSA Czech Airlines, Israel Airlines, Finnair, KLM, Korean Air, Lufthansa, SWISS International Air Lines, TAP Portugal, Turkish Airlines and others. Aeroflot has been among the winners of this contest earlier - in 2010.

The basic idea of the award is to motivate airlines to respect the environment in the vicinity of the airport. Aircraft noise measurements were made using a monitoring system "ANOMS8" during the most intense air traffic from mid-May to October. Like previous year, the assessment included monitoring of the auxiliary runway and the runway 12/30 which was used more often than usual due to the overhaul of the baseband. Instruments in the Prague airport recorded the lowest noise during landing and takeoff of Aeroflot aircraft.

After receiving the award, the regional representative of Aeroflot in the Czech Republic Vladimir Ivchenko said that this victory was achieved through high qualification of Aeroflot's pilots who impeccably follow the approach procedures, distinct interaction with the dispatch service and the youngest fleet in Europe with average age of 5.3 years.

Currently Aeroflot operates flights to Prague on Airbus A320, A330 and Boeing 737NG aircraft.

Сelebrating its 90-th anniversary in 2013, Aeroflot is Russia's flagship airline and the largest national air company. Proudly being a member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance, Aeroflot with its partnering members provides service to more than 1000 destinations in 178 countries. Aeroflot operates one of the most modern and youngest fleets in Europe counting 141 aircraft formed by Airbus, Boeing and Sukhoi airliners with an average airplane age between five and six years old. In 2012 Aeroflot carried 17.7 million passengers (27.5 million passengers as Aeroflot Group), continuously showing the best results in modern Russia's history. In June 2013 Aeroflot was for the second time awarded by SKYTRAX as The Best Airline in Eastern Europe.
