Yanukovych: Development of Energy Infrastructure Is Strategic Task
OREANDA-NEWS. December 02, 2013. In presence of the President, the Agreement on Distribution of Hydrocarbons Extracted from the Areas of Abikha, Kavkazka, Mayachna and Subbotina in the Black Sea has been signed.
The agreement has been signed by Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Eduard Stavytskyi, Executive Vice President in South East Europe at “Eni Ukraine Shallow Waters” Giuseppe Tannoia and Director in Russia, the CIS countries and North Europe on strategic partnership at “EDF Ukraine Shallow Waters” Pierre de Firmas de Peries.
Before the beginning of the ceremony, the Head of State emphasized that the development of energy infrastructure was a strategic task for Ukraine.
“The development of energy infrastructure is a strategic task for Ukraine. Certainly, cooperation with your companies opens new opportunities for us,” Viktor Yanukovych said.
“Strengthening the energy security level of Ukraine, reduction of pressure in energy issues, provision of energy supplies to the domestic market of Ukraine and facilitation of economic development of the state are the goals we’ve set for cooperation with your companies,” the President noted.
In his turn, Giuseppe Tannoia expressed gratitude to the Head of State for the facilitation in the preparation of the given initiative.
“We believe that our technologies and experience in the given spheres can be useful for Ukraine,” he said.
According to Giuseppe Tannoia, the activity of the company in Ukraine will be aimed at preservation of its environment. “As we know, the Black Sea is closed sea; we have a rich working experience in such conditions,” he noted.
“We hope that the results will become our common success,” Giuseppe Tannoia stressed.
In his turn, Pierre de Firmas de Peries noted that cooperation with Ukraine would provide a chance for the company to take part in the implementation of important joint projects.
“We are very proud to take part in this initiative and support Ukraine in achieving the goal of energy efficiency and energy independence,” he said.
