OREANDA-NEWS.   As part of its efforts to stimulate the service industry, Anhui province built 43 clusters consisting of 4,090 businesses, the provincial development and reform commission said on Wednesday.

From January to September, the industrial agglomerations' business revenue reached 113.5 billion yuan (USD 18.6 billion), up 42 percent year-on-year. They provided jobs to 237,000 people.

In breakdown, 15 clusters specialize in modern logistics, three in information technology, three in research and development (R&D) as well as innovation, 13 in culture and tourism, two in service outsourcing, three in business and four in banking service.

Out of them, five reported their individual sales income broke the 5 billion-yuan mark; 16 attracted more than 50 companies; 8 became home to over 100 companies.

Huangshan Culture and Tourism Industrial Zone, Hongcun Rural Tourism Industrial Zone and Tunxi Ancient Street Industrial Zone collectively drew 1,252 enterprises, which have a combined 16,000-strong workforce and reaped sales revenue of 3.2 billion yuan.

While they develop at an amazing speed, the province's service industrial agglomerations are far from big and strong. The commission said contrary to its previous work focusing on giving an industrial-cluster status, it will tighten control over the clusters and carry out more stringent assessment of them.
