Mercedes-Benz Dominant in Luxury and Executive Class
OREANDA-NEWS. The readers of the German motoring magazine "Auto Zeitung" have voted the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and E-Class the best cars in the luxury and executive class. (S-Class: Fuel consumption combined cycle: 10,3-5,5 l/100km, CO2 emissions, combined: 242-146 g/km, energy efficiency class: F-A), (E-Class: Fuel consumption combined cycle: 6,7-4,1 l/100km, CO2 emissions, combined: 157-107 g/km, energy efficiency class: B-A+.) Accordingly the two premium models from the world's oldest automobile manufacturer have been awarded the "Auto Trophy 2013". The advertising by Mercedes-Benz also proved a star, as its high quality was likewise rewarded with the top placing and the "Auto Trophy".
This year 103,074 readers answered the call of "Auto Zeitung" to vote for the best cars. They were able to choose their favourites from 400 different models. The results of this traditional award event, which has now taken place for the 26th time, were a particularly shining success for the Mercedes-Benz star. In the luxury class category the S-Class easily took first place. In the executive class it was the Mercedes-Benz E-Class that won the laurels. Both were therefore awarded the coveted "Auto Trophy 2013". Yesterday Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber, the member of the Daimler AG Executive Board responsible for corporate research and development at Mercedes-Benz Cars, and Ola Kallenius, the member of the Mercedes-Benz Cars Executive Board responsible for sales, were able to receive a further "Auto Trophy" for the best advertising in the "Classic Remise" in Dusseldorf.
The new S-Class earned itself the high-class award because many people see it as the best car in the world, and the standard-setter for technological progress and luxurious travel. This exceptional saloon car underpins its status, for example, with numerous innovative safety systems, one of which even allows semi-autonomous driving in traffic tailbacks. Another unrivalled innovation in the new S-Class is the MAGIC BODY CONTROL system, which makes the saloon the world's first automobile capable of recognising uneven road surfaces in advance and adjusting the suspension for an unprecedented level of ride comfort.
For all its technical brilliance the S-Class is also the most economical saloon in the luxury segment, and shines with fuel consumption figures that seemed utopian even for the medium class just a few years ago. Because of its exceptional status, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class was recently also the recipient of the "Golden Steering Wheel" award. In October the S-Class was once again the world's best-selling luxury saloon.
