BEA Receives Best Practice Award in Corporate Social Responsibility
OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2013. The Bank of East Asia (“BEA”) has been named a winner of the Corporate Social Responsibility award in the Best Practice Awards programme 2013 organised by Best Practice Management (“BPM”).
BEA received this award in recognition of its best practices in the development and execution of its CSR programmes and its efforts to weave social considerations into its business strategy. Mr. Tong Hon-shing, Deputy Chief Executive at BEA, accepted the award on behalf of the Bank, at the Best Practice Awards 2013 Presentation Ceremony held earlier today. Ms. Mimi Kam, General Manager & Head of Human Resources & Corporate Communications Division, represented the Bank during a panel discussion with other award winners and shared the Bank’s CSR experience with the other attendees.
“We at BEA have spent a great deal of effortin recent years to bring our Bank’s CSR programme to the next level,” said Mr. Tong. “We have focused on integrating CSR into our business and operations, engaging more of our stakeholders – both internally and externally, reporting according to international guidelines, and striving to maximise our impact in the causes and programmes we support. Today’s award is wonderful affirmation of our hard work, and we will further develop our CSR programmes for the benefit of all our stakeholders,” he added.
Throughout its 95-year history, BEA has supported a wide range of charitable programmes and events in the communities itserves. In 2009, the Bank established The Bank of East Asia Charitable Foundation in support of education and to help alleviate the burdens of underprivileged members of our society. In 2013, BEA issued its first corporate social responsibility (“CSR”) report that adheres to the Global Reporting Initiative.
