OREANDA-NEWS. The existing taxation system undermines the competitive strength of Belarusian goods, Petr Nikitenko of the Belarus's Academy of Sciences said on Thursday.

“China will determine the development of the world economy in the 21st century. We will have to make Belarusian economy more open, by joining the WTO and all sorts customs and non-customs unions. It is all a matter of the price/quality ratio. We will have to correct two mistakes on the national level. First, we will need to produce a foreign trade surplus, but that will not happen soon. Hopefully, in 20-30 years. Second, we need to optimize the current tax system that makes our goods uncompetitive on the world market”, the expert said.
