Domodedovo De-Icing Technologies Tested by DAQCP
OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow Domodedovo Airport has been audited by the De-icing/Anti-icing Quality Control Pool (DAQCP), which confirmed that the air hub has a high-tech infrastructure and professional specialists in the field of aircraft ground handling.
The De-icing/Anti-icing Quality Control Pool is an international airlines pool auditing aircraft de-icing quality. The DAQCP annually carries out comprehensive assessment of safety and quality of aircraft de-icing at the airports. Auditors are interested in all de-icing stages and the level of de-icing specialists training and availability of required documentation making it possible to carry out aircraft de-icing activities in accordance with international standards.
The DAQCP expert opinion confirms that the technologies used at Domodedovo allow carrying out aircraft de-icing at the highest level.
At Moscow Domodedovo Airport, aircraft are de-iced by Domodedovo Airport Handling, specialists of which use advanced technologies to optimize de-icing processes. The company uses specialized equipment and de-icing aircraft fluids produced by the world's leading manufacturers and has one of the largest fleet of equipment in this country.
Domodedovo technical system allows applying anti-icing fluid on aircraft with their engines running. The areas for such works are built on both sides of the runway No. 1, which gives an advantage in terms of holdover time.
Particular attention is paid to training personnel in de-icing. All professionals involved in protecting aircraft against ground icing undergo annual theoretical and practical training in accordance with international requirements.
To date, Domodedovo is the only air hub in Russia operating regular A380 flights. Specialized 'high-altitude' equipment allows carrying out its de-icing with maximum efficiency. De-icing operator cabin can be raised to the height of 15 m above the ground, and its spray nozzle - higher than 23 m, which is comparable with the height of a 5-stroryed apartment block.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest air hub in Russia, and in 2012, its total passenger traffic amounted 28.2 million people. It falls into the category of the largest airports in Europe and is among the top three fastest growing airports in Europe according to the ACI Europe classification. Since 2009, it has been holding the title of the best airport in Eastern Europe as rated by Skytrax. Domodedovo is the base airport in Moscow for member airlines of the largest global airline alliances - Star Alliance and oneworld.
