OREANDA-NEWS. November 22/2013, following the results of the fourth meeting of the Russian-Turkish High-Level Cooperation Council (HLCC), Power Machines OJSC (Russia) and the ERG Insaat Company (Turkey) have signed a bilateral memorandum of strategic partnership.

The signing of the bilateral memorandum has taken place in Saint Petersburg in the presence of President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoрan being in Russia on a working visit at the invitation of the head of the Russian state.

Igor Kostin, Director General of Power Machines OJSC, and Muzaffer Цzdemir, Director General of ERG Insaat Company, have put their signatures on the document.

The parties have agreed on strategic partnership during the production of the turbine plant equipment for the Akkuyu NPP project, in particular, on the possibility to manufacture certain components and parts of the steam turbines, generators and heat exchangers equipment at the Turkish market under the supervision of Power Machines specialists in case if the project for the production and supply of the turbine plant main equipment for Akkuyu NPP will be awarded to Power Machines OJSC.

According to Igor Kostin, General Director of Power Machines OJSC, this memorandum is in complete keeping with the spirit of the Russian-Turkish intergovernmental agreement as related to broad involvement of Turkish companies into the implementation of the Akkuyu NPP project.

Power Machines OJSC has all the necessary technical and production resources to act as a complete set supplier of the turbine plant main equipment for the Akkuyu NPP machine hall. A new state-of-the-art, high-tech production facility which has been built and put into operation on the outskirts of Saint Petersburg and is capable to produce up to four complete sets of powerful steam turbines and turbogenerators for nuclear power plants a year, proves the Company’s high production potential.

At the present two nuclear power plants – Leningradskaya NPP-2 (having two power units) and Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2 (having two power units) – equipped with VVER-1200 reactors in line with NPP-2006 project are being erected in Russia. The Turkish nuclear power agency approved Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2 as a reference power plant for the Akkuyu NPP project in 2012.

By now Power Machines OJSC, being the supplier of the main equipment of power units machine halls for the both nuclear power plants, has already manufactured and supplied four complete sets of steam turbines and generators as well as auxiliary equipment to the customer. The similar equipment is being manufactured for Belorusskaya NPP, the two power units of which are to be put into operation in 2017 and in 2019 respectively.
