Ahmadi, Guangdong to Sign Bilateral Pact in Oil Industries
OREANDA-NEWS. November 25, 2013. The governorate of Ahmadi and the southern Chinese province of Guangdong are to sign a cooperation pact in the oil industries, Al-Ahmadi governor Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim Al-Duaij Al-Sabah announced.
This announcement was made when Al-Duaij received the visiting Chinese Vice Foreign Minister of Guangdong province Fu Lang.
Al-Duaij is expected to visit the Chinese province in the foreseeable future to further promote cooperation and friendship ties.
Al-Ahmadi governor expressed hope that technical negotiations will be launched between Kuwaiti and Chinese officials to sign the final pact of building a refinery and petrochemical complex in Zhanjiang City in Guangdong Province.
He expressed optimism that the agreement will be signed before His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah's visit to China in the near future.
Building the refinery and the complex comes upon the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who hopes to develop Kuwait's oil industries and makes them available in Asian markets, the fastest growing markets of oil.
On his part, the Chinese official said that the upcoming visits of Kuwaiti top officials would play a vital role in strengthening bilateral ties.
Guangdong's economy grows more than 12 percent annually and it is the wealthiest province in China. With a population of some 100 million, it is also China's largest oil consuming province that creates a huge energy market.
The provincial capital Guangzhou is the third largest consumer market in China after Shanghai and Beijing.
