OREANDA-NEWS. November 25, 2013. The Council for Rail Transport of CIS States (CRT CIS) and the International Union of Railways (UIC) signed a memorandum of cooperation, in Chisinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova. The document was signed by Peter Kucherenko, Chairman of the Directorate of the CRT CIS, and Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, Director General of the UIC.

In the framework of the memorandum, it is proposed that from 2014 to 2017, the two organisations will cooperate on traffic safety, antiterrorism security, the development of uniform operational rules for the railways and the interoperability of rail systems.

The parties will also exchange their experience in environmental protection, energy conservation and the development of backup systems in passenger traffic, as well as in cargo tracking technology.
