PM Instructs to Discuss Requirements Imposed by IMF to Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. November 25, 2013. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov has commissioned First Vice Prime Minister to discuss with MPs, especially with representatives of opposition factions, demands made in a letter of the International Monetary Fund to the Government of Ukraine.
A relevant task was set by Mykola Azarov to his first deputy during the session of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Head of Government informed that the day before he had received a letter from the IMF which contained conditions for further cooperation.
“Conditions: raise of gas and heating tariffs for the population by approximately 40%; commitment to freeze base salary, minimal salary, general nominal salary on the current level; significant shortening of expenses for budget purposes; reducing of subsidies in energy sector; gradual cessation of VAT exemption for agriculture and other branches and other conditions,” Mykola Azarov quoted the letter from the IMF.
“I want to ask our critics from the Udar, Batkivshchyna, Svoboda factions whether they support such conditions. Serhiy Hennadiyovych [Arbuzov], You are going to be at the Verkhovna Rada now, just ask them and then report the Government. Do the Ministers, members of the Cabinet of Ministers support such conditions? We will consider this issue later,” Mykola Azarov announced.
