OREANDA-NEWS. ZAO “Aviastar-SP” continues production technological re-equipment. A unique 5 -axis milling center produced by MAG (USA) is being commissioned. The processing center had been specifically developed to machine aircraft aluminum parts up to 25 meters long. The center was installed in the mechanical machining workshop of the factory.

This machining center with respect to its technical characteristics allows increasing the parts machining efficiency 2-3 times compared to the existing technology.

“The machine is a unique one due to some of its parameters”, - Yuri Molchanov, Deputy Director of the engineering and consulting “Solver” company, says. - “The first thing to mention, its advantage is to be capable to machine parts of big dimensions. Secondly, the machine is of gantry type capable to process the part simultaneously at two portals significantly increasing the work efficiency. Thirdly, it provides a great accuracy and a high machining speed.

ZAO “Aviastar-SP” is a sole aircraft-building enterprise of Russia, that has such a machining center.

This milling machine is also a sole one for our factory,- Ilya Terekhin, Chief of the ZAO “Aviastar-SP” Technical Development Department, says.- “Therefore the specialists of our plant have already got a special training”.
