CPC CEO Inspects Expansion Project Facilities in Kazakhstan
OREANDA-NEWS. Nikolay Brunich, Caspian Pipeline Consortium General Director, made an inspection visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan on November 13-15.
The inspection visit covered “Tengiz” and “Atyrau” pump stations being upgraded as part of the pipeline capacity Expansion Project, a working meeting with the management of КОО “Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures” and construction contractors. Summing up the meeting Nikolay Brunich focused on the need for closer cooperation among all construction participants and strict observance of the schedule for each phase.
The visit also included a meeting between CPC General Director and Gyumar Duisembayev, First Deputy Akym of Atyrau Oblast, where implementation of joint social projects of Caspian Pipeline Consortium and the Region were reviewed. After the meeting Nikolay Brunich inspected the secondary school in Aktogai, Makhambet District. Construction of the school is financed by the Company. The new modern school for 160 pupils and with equipped grounds will be the only facility in the village connected to the water pipeline. Local intake station was modernized to ensure hot and cold running water for the school.
CPC pipeline system is one of the largest investment projects in the energy industry with participation of foreign capital on the CIS territory. The length of the pipeline connecting the oil fields in Western Kazakhstan with the Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk is 1,511 km. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with single point moorings which allow for safe tanker lifting at a considerable distance from the shore, also when the weather conditions are unfavorable.
The Expansion Project includes rehabilitation of 5 existing and construction of 10 additional pump stations (2 in the Republic of Kazakhstan and 8 in the Russian Federation), six new storage tanks (100,000 cu.m each) in addition to the existing four near Novorossiysk and a third SPM at the CPC Marine Terminal, and also the replacement of an 88 km pipeline section in Kazakhstan with a larger diameter pipe. The total amount of the Project investments will be USD 5.4 billion.
