OREANDA-NEWS. Today, the delegation of the Airborne Forces of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation headed by Vladimir Shamanov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Airborne Forces, Colonel General, has arrived at KAMAZ.

The guests visited KAMAZ’s Research and Development Center where they examined the range of military KAMAZ vehicles of Mustang and Typhoon lines and next-generation Tornado military chassis. The military were accompanied by Sergey Kogogin, Director General of the company, and Danis Valeev, Chief Designer of OJSC KAMAZ.

The displayed military vehicles were examined in a constructive way. The Commander of the Airborne Forces was interested in the company’s technical capabilities to update the existing Mustang vehicles to meet the needs of the airborne troops. Answering Colonel General Shamanov’s questions, Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ, said that the company was ready to fulfill the military’s any requirement as each KAMAZ military vehicle was universal and multifunctional, and, with additional innovations, able to solve military tasks of all armed forces.

 The Commander of the Airborne Forces took a genuine interest in the new military vehicles of the Typhoon line. Vladimir Shamanov especially liked that some Typhoon vehicles had modular constructions which are widely used in foreign troops of the US and German armies nowadays. It gives an opportunity to adapt various armaments on one basic chassis. According to Danis Valeev, Chief Designer of OJSC KAMAZ, today KAMAZ has got such capabilities too.

The Commander of the Airborne Forces concluded, “For the past two years, KAMAZ has performed a large amount of work developing military equipment. There are many specific areas deserving consideration. We will surely develop cooperation with KAMAZ. We have already signed preliminary agreements on cooperation in some areas we are interested in. I hope we will manage to jointly prepare military vehicles for the Russian Airborne Forces.”

Negotiations on long-term cooperation are currently being held with the participation of Sergey Kogogin and Vladimir Shamanov in the general directorate of KAMAZ.
