OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2013. The President noted the significant contribution of agrarians to the strengthening of the food security of Ukraine.

In the course of his speech at the solemn meeting on the occasion of the Day of Agricultural Workers, the President stressed that due to their persistent work, Ukraine had managed to stabilize prices for food products and "people are grateful for that".

"Today, we can definitely say that Ukraine is fully provided with its own food products. In several areas, we produce much more than what we consume," the Head of State said.

According to him, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia and Kharkiv regions have been the leaders in the production of grain for several years in a row. This year, they have harvested more than 4 million tons of grain each. Moreover, Poltava region has harvested about 5 million tons. At the same time, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions have harvested 1 million tons of sunflower seeds each.
