Bashneft Joins International Associations in Oil and Gas Industry
OREANDA-NEWS. Bashneft has joined the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (OGP) and the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA). Currently, Bashneft is the only Russian company to have joined OGP and IPIECA, which include most of the world's leading oil and gas companies and key national associations of oil and gas producers
'For Bashneft, joining OGP and IPIECA is a further step towards improving its management system and its performance in the sphere of health, safety, environment and social responsibility,' emphasized Randall Gossen, a member of Bashneft's Board of Directors and Chairman of the Health, Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility Committee. 'Participation in the work of these associations will enable the Company to gain access to best practices and expertise in these spheres and to integrate best practices of leading global oil and gas companies in its day-to-day operations.'
Bashneft's strategic goal in the sphere of HSE is to become a leader among Russian energy companies and to comply with international HSE standards and regulations. In 2013 the Board of Directors of JSOC Bashneft established the Health, Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility Committee, which supervises the implementation of the Company's functional strategy in these spheres and makes relevant recommendations to the Board of Directors.
The decision that Bashneft should join OGP and IPIECA was made by the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of the Company on August 26, 2013.
