OREANDA-NEWS. SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev received a delegation comprised of the members of the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Arizona.

entioning the enhancing political and economic relations between the United States and Azerbaijan, as well as important role of such visits, Mr. Abdullayev spoke about the achievements in the socio-economic development in Azerbaijan, the role of the oil and gas sector in these achievements, particularly the country’s rightful place among the oil-exporting countries, its important role in energy security of Georgia and Turkey, and company's investment programs abroad. Noting the contributions of Azerbaijan as an alternative source of natural gas to the European energy security, SOCAR President said the transportation route for gas to be produced within Shah Deniz - 2 project had been already selected, and agreements had been signed with potential gas buyers in Europe. He highly appreciated the support by the U.S. government for the implementation of major projects as Azeri - Chirag - Gunashli, Baku - Tbilisi - Ceyhan, and Shah Deniz. SOCAR President also briefed on environmental projects carried out by the Company, as well as events held by SOCAR for training the local personnel in the leading European and American universities in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev “to turn oil capital into human capital'', and later benefiting from their experience and skills in the implementation of the regional and global projects. The members of Senate and House of Representatives of Arizona State expressed content for visiting Azerbaijan. Pointing out the governmental attention to the environmental protection along with economic development, establishment of inter-religious and international relations at a high level, the guests asked questions they were interested in. Their questions were responded in detail.
