OREANDA-NEWS. November 15, 2013. President Jia Baojun and Secretary Xu Siwei met with Minister Susan Shabangu of South African Mineral Resources Department in the headquarter.

The two sides made frank and friendly exchanges in promoting bilateral cooperation and other issues. Deputy General Manager Gong Jingsheng of Sinosteel Corporation and General Manager Assistant Zhang Zhiheng also attended the meeting.

President Xu showed his welcome to Minister Susan Shabangu and her accompany on behalf of Sinosteel Corporation. He also introduced about the main business of Sinosteel Corporation and its project investment and operation situation in South Africa. President Xu said that Sinosteel Corporation is an international company attaching great importance to overseas resource development and mine construction and South Africa is an important partner country of Sinosteel Corporation in overseas resource development and ferroalloy production. In project operation, Sinosteel Corporation paid much attention to making use of local forces and staff to do business and shouldering social responsibility to make a positive contribution in South African economic development. He expressed his hope to further strengthen communication and cooperation with relevant departments of South African Government in promoting construction and operation of projects invested in South Africa and achieving win-win situation.

Minister Susan Shabangu expressed her thankfulness for the hospitality from Sinosteel Corporation. She said it was a pleasure for her to have the opportunity to visit Sinosteel Corporation making exchanges. And the visit had further enhanced the bilateral communication and understanding. She said that South Africa government had taken a series of initiatives in energy, mining, infrastructure construction and other industries to promote long-term development with stability.

In the long run, these initiatives were beneficial to bilateral partnership. She hoped that Sinosteel Corporation could understand and support this point. Meanwhile, Minister Susan Shabangu showed her gratitude that Sinosteel Corporation actively fulfilled its social responsibilities in South Africa and contributed to the local community and local people. Furthermore, she hoped that the two sides could make joint efforts to overcome current difficulties and establish stable cooperation in the long-term for win-win situation and bilateral development.
