Ukraine, Lithuania to Deepen Cooperation in Healthcare
OREANDA-NEWS. November 14, 2013. Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Konstantyn Gryshchenko has met with a delegation from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania headed by the Minister Vitenis Andryukaitis.
"It is crucial before the summit in Vilnius to discuss not only political issues, but also those that are the essence of the European idea, the issues of ordinary citizens, health issues," Mr. K. Gryshchenko stressed at the meeting.
Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine informed the representatives of the Lithuanian delegation on the progress and results of health reform in Ukraine, focusing on the need to deepen bilateral cooperation in this area with the aim of building a modern European healthcare system in Ukraine.

During the meeting the parties discussed the subject matter of possible cooperation of Kyiv and Vilnius in healthcare.
In turn, the Minister of Health of Lithuania Vitenis Andryukaitis convinced of the need to create joint working groups in separate areas, which at expert level will discuss issues.
"I can confirm that Lithuania has passed a difficult way from the Soviet health care system to a modern European system and we can share this experience with Ukraine. Lithuania implements several models of primary care and the introduction of health insurance," V. Andryukaitis noted.
In addition, Mr. Andryukaitis emphasized on the interest of his country in the Ukrainian investment in pharmaceutical industry in Lithuania and partnerships in the field of transplantation, exchange students and doctors.
"We are keen in Ukrainian investment in pharmaceutical market of Lithuania. We want to have more investment in this area. Lithuania could become the gateway to the Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies in the EU. In addition, we can be partners in the field of transplantation, exchange students and doctors. Our countries have a great potential for development of spa treatment," he stressed.
