OREANDA-NEWS. Dmitry Grishin, co-founder and CEO of Mail.Ru Group has accepted an offer to join Bauman Moscow State Technical University’s Board of Trustees.  The Board will be involved in creating and implementing a new strategy and development program for BMSTU.

The decision to create the Board of Trustees was made in spring this year. The Board’s primary goals are to further develop engineering education; to promote scientific achievements to the Russian high-tech market; and to facilitate productive interaction between the education, manufacturing, and business sectors.  The Board will include managers of high-tech businesses, as well as representatives of the government, public agencies, and the business community.

“Being a member of the Board of Trustees for one of the Russia’s top technical universities is a great honor for any businessman, that’s why I have gladly accepted MSTU’s offer. I am certain that cooperation between business and education representatives is absolutely vital. This cooperation will enable us to bring together companies’ and educational institutions’ vision of higher education in Russia, making the graduates more competitive and in-demand”, - said Dmitry Grishin.

Membership on the Board of Trustees is not the first time Mail.Ru Group and the Bauman Moscow State Technical University have collaborated.  In 2012, Technopark Mail.Ru , a training and expertise unit, was created where BMSTU students acquire knowledge that makes them in-demand web designers and system architects.  In addition, as part of IT educational events held in Russia, Mail.Ru Group organizes a series of competitions for programmers (Russian Code Cup, Russian AI Cup, and Russian Developers Cup) and designers (Russian Design Cup).

“Although unique, the University is currently unable to move forward most effectively using its own resources alone.  Thus, we decided to create the Board of Trustees.  I am glad that one of our prominent alumni, Dmitry Grishin, has agreed to join the Board,” said Anatoly Aleksandrov, Rector of BMSTU.

Bauman Moscow State Technical University is more than just a training center for highly qualified technical specialists.  It is also a powerful scientific center with labs and research facilities to advance areas such as IT, medicine, and the space and energy industries.
