Moscow Domodedovo Airport Publishes Results of October and 10M
OREANDA-NEWS. Following the results of October 2013, the passenger traffic of Moscow Domodedovo Airport increased by 6.4% yoy and amounted to 2.57 million people. The number of flights increased by 3% to make 22.7 million take-offs and landings.
In October, the highest growth in passenger traffic was registered on domestic routes - plus 8.2% yoy; passenger traffic amounted to 1.11 million people.
International passenger traffic for October increased by 5% yoy to reach 1.46 million people.
Domodedovo cargo traffic for the second autumn month was 18.2 thousand tons, which is 1.8% more than in last October.
Following the results of January-October 2013, the passenger traffic of Moscow Domodedovo Airport amounted to 26.57 million people. The year-on-year increase made 10.7%. The number of flights increased by 4.3% to make 222 thousand take-offs and landings.
The domestic routes passenger traffic for ten months of 2013 reached 10.65 million people, which is 8.9% more than for the same period of last year. The maximum index dynamics is registered in the following domestic destinations: Rostov-on-Don, Makhachkala, Saint Petersburg, Krasnodar, and Saratov. Passenger traffic on these routes amounted to 2.49 million people, which is 24.7% more than for the same period of last year.
Passenger traffic on international routes for the same period amounted to 15.92 million people (plus 11.9% compared to January-October 2012). The highest growth is registered on the following international routes: Antalya, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Larnaca, Heraklion. In January-October 2013, 2.52 million passengers were transported on these routes which means an increase by 47.1% yoy.
Domodedovo cargo traffic for ten months of 2013 increased by 2.5% yoy and amounted to 162.6 thousand tons.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest air hub in Russia, and in 2012, its total passenger traffic amounted 28.2 million people. It falls into the category of the largest airports in Europe and is among the top three fastest growing airports in Europe according to the ACI Europe classification. Since 2009, it has been holding the title of the best airport in Eastern Europe as rated by Skytrax. Domodedovo is the base airport in Moscow for member airlines of the largest global airline alliances - Star Alliance and oneworld.
