OREANDA-NEWS. PJSC “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” started pilot project on changing transport logistics for export of iron ore raw materials to Romania. On November 6, 2013, PJSC “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” dispatched the first shipment of iron-ore concentrate with destination point of SE “Izmail Sea Commercial Port” (Odessa region). Total weigh of this first freight shipment to “ArcelorMittal Galati” plant (Romania) is 3.6 thousand tons of iron-ore concentrate.

Total volume of PJSC “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” pilot freight shipment for reshipment in Izmail Port will amount to approximately 7 thousand tons of iron-ore raw materials in November of 2013. In full volume planned monthly freight shipment will make amount up to 40 thousand tons of products.

Yuriy Shneidmyuller, CEO, “ArcelorMittal Trans”: “We are starting the supply of cargoes to Romania by water with the aim of general optimization of logistic delivery. It is expected that transportation of the iron-ore raw materials to Romania in mixed railway-water transport link (by railway to the Izmail Port and further by sea, with the entering to Danube river) will be for us more beneficial logistic decision in comparison with just railway shipment. But in the cold period of the year we will have to come back to the traditional scheme of logistics by railway transport, because during the winter time navigation on the Danube is limited. In this November we are doing test shipment of products to Romania. This is the start of the pilot project the aim of which is analysis of the effectiveness of supply of iron-ore raw materials by railway-water transport link. If the economic effect will be approved and the required conditions of the reshipment of the iron-ore concentrate will be provided, we will continue collaboration with “Izmail Sea Commercial Port” after opening of navigation on the Danube in March, 2014”.
