Remittances from Aboard Grew 8,2% in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. November 08, 2013. In September, 2013, remittances amounted to USD139.58 million, up USD 5.36 million or 4% against USD 134.22 million reported for last September. RUB was, as before, dominant. In September, 2103 it made up 36.8% or the total sum of the remittances, EUR and USD making 33.7% and 29.5% respectively.
Last September, those shares were 25.9%, 35.5% and 38.6% respectively. Remittances via rapid money transfer systems made up USD 1 billion 031.27 million or 88.8% of their total amount in January-September, 2013 against USD 950.9 million or 88.6% recorded in the same period of the last year. The greatest sum was transferred in July, 2013, and made up USD 156.67 million the smallest one falling on January and being USD 98.95 million.
In 2012, remittances sent from aboard in favour in individuals via banks amounted to USD 1 billion 494.23 million, 3.5% up within the year. The greatest amount of the remittances was transferred in October 2012 and made up USD 152.73 million the smallest one falling on January 2012 and being USD 81.9 million.
The biggest receipts to Moldova come from Russia and Italy, NBM reports. According to the World Bank, remittances from Moldova’s labour migrants amount to 20% to 30% of GDP of Moldova. The all-time peak of remittances to Moldova made in favour of individuals via commercial banks was recorded in 2008, when the sum amounted to USD 1 billion 660.09 million
