OREANDA-NEWS. Fujitsu, a leading provider of business, information technology, and communications solutions, today announced that Richard Hillyard, senior market development manager, State and Local Government for Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc., was named Secretary of the National Association of State Technology Directors' (NASTD) Corporate Affiliate Committee (CAC). In this leadership role, Richard will provide NASTD members with strategic guidance regarding the application of information and communications technologies (ICT) to achieve efficiencies and deliver ever-greater value to the tax payer.

The NASTD is a member-driven organization committed to advancing the effective use of information technology to facilitate operational efficiencies in state government. Members of the CAC collaborate with their peers in the public sector to accomplish that goal by identifying the current and emerging technologies providing the most benefit.

The NASTD and CAC work with state technology directors in multiple communications areas, including networks, datacenters, enterprise operations, quality control and more. Today, many of these state technology directors are particularly focused on upgrading public safety networks, including FirstNet, a nationwide high-speed network connecting first responders in the event of an emergency; and on ensuring cybersecurity is maintained against threats both foreign and domestic. While the NASTD remains first and foremost an organization for state government technology professionals, members collaborate with municipal and county government ICT staff, as they face similar challenges.
