OREANDA-NEWS. November 06, 2013. ArcelorMittal’s Ostrava-based engineering products entity and Skoda Transportation have entered into a three-year agreement to supply around 500 axles for Skoda’s 26T and 28T trams which will soon be seen on the streets of Miskolc in Hungary and Konya in Turkey.

What won ArcelorMittal the contract with the transport vehicle manufacturer was the high level of expertise and skills of its employees, as well as the plant’s reputation in the supply of highest quality products and its manufacturing capacity.

Collaboration between the two companies began in early 2012 with the research and development and the initial design phases. The first trial orders followed soon after that, at the end of 2012.

Delivery of the axles started in early 2013, and will extend to 2015.

“This first collaboration is just an initial step, and we are working hard both in terms of product development and manufacturing to make sure we maintain the trust of the customer, to be able to continue our partnership well beyond 2015,” said Daniel Dolezal, head of sales and marketing at ArcelorMittal Engineering Products Ostrava.
