Uzbekistan and Czech Republic Discuss Economic Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. The Seventh session of the Uzbek-Czech intergovernmental commission on economic, industrial and scientific-technical cooperation was held in Tashkent.
Deputy Minister of industry and trade Milan Hovorka will led by the Czech delegation and First Deputy Minister of foreign economic relations, investment and trade Akmal Kamalov - the Uzbek delegation.
Representatives of ministries and departments, as well as companies, responsible for foreign economic relations, trade, industry, agriculture, transport, ICT, tourism, electronics, construction materials, machinery, textile, chemistry and other spheres participated at the session.
During the session, the Czech delegation familiarized with privatization process in Uzbekistan, reforms in economy, measures adopted to create favourable conditions for businesses at Navoi free industrial-economic zone and Angren special industrial zone.
Milan Hovorka said that the Czech Republic is for gradual development of cooperation with Uzbekistan in all directions, he said. He said that Uzbekistan has great economic and intellectual potential and he once again was assured on this during his visit to the International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange.
At the session, the sides exchanged opinion on perspectives of further developing relations between two nations in trade-economic, industrial and scientific-technical directions. The sides also considered issues of developing trade, tourism, agriculture, transport, machinery, science, increasing number of joint venture and implementing new joint projects.
On the same day, business circles of Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic participated in business forum, in which they discussed issues of using existing economic potentials of two states.
Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic set the most favourable trade regime. Trade turnover reached US.5 million in 2012, which rose by 32.3% year-on-year, and US.8 million in nine months of 2013.
About 20 joint ventures with the Czech investments operate in Uzbekistan in such spheres as production of food products, clothes, construction materials, medicaments, etc.
