RUSNANO Participates at Open Innovations
OREANDA-NEWS. RUSNANO Group will again play a particularly active role in the work of the International Forum Open Innovations, devoted to promoting innovative developments and related collaborations and held annually in Moscow. Each year RUSNANO also presents the products of its portfolio companies at Open Innovations Expo. Both events will take place from October 31, 2013, through November 1, 2013, at the international exposition center Crocus Expo.
On the first day, RUSNANO CEO Anatoly Chubais will moderate the opening of Open Innovations Expo. He will be joined in the ceremonies by Denis Manturov, minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Genevieve Fioraso, minister of Higher Education and Research of France, and Matti Attonen, director general of the Department for External Economic Relations of the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to the Russian Federation. Later Mr. Chubais will take part in a roundtable discussion, Regions of the Russian Federation: How to Compete in the Global Innovation Economics.
On the second day, there will be a plenary discussion titled Composites-Promising Materials, Green Technologies and a panel discussion titled Nanotechnology Powering the Globe. Anatoly Chubais will participate in both.
As part of Open Innovations, RUSNANO will conduct the Chief Technology Officer Forum, the engineering directors' forum. That interactive congress for heads of R&D divisions of leading innovation companies is designed to promote lively exchange of experience and build ties between Russian and foreign representatives of the engineering elite. Participants in this event will have the opportunity to discuss problems in intersector and transnational R&D and questions about forming R&D and manufacturing partnerships
The CTO Forum program will be divided by profile into several working groups-Energy, Information and Digital Technologies, Chemicals and New Materials, Infrastructure and Transport, and Modern Manufacturing. Organizers expect that some 50 experts will take part. RUSNANO's chief scientist and advisor to its CEO, Sergey Kalyushny, will be among them. Mr. Kalyushny and managers of many portfolio companies-including Crocus Nano Electronics, NPC Springs, and RM Nanotech- will be among them.
RUSNANO has organized the Nanotechnology section for Open Innovations. Three events are planned for the section-Nanotechnology Powering the Globe, Nanotechnologies as the Response to the Global Energy Challenges, and Digitization Enabled by Nanoelectronics. Representatives of the business community, government, and science will take part in discussing the real-world problems facing the nanoindustry.
RUSNANO's exhibitions for Open Innovations Expo present the thematic work of its portfolio companies. Here visitors will find demonstrations of solutions for larger business fields: railway transport, the oil and gas industry, and construction of roads and highways. Products manufactured by RUSNANO's portfolio companies will be exhibited at Smart City. Exhibitions reflecting the work of the Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs will be located at the nanotechnology center Startup-Maker and in the zone 100 Innovators.
As in years past, one of the high points of Open Innovations will be awarding the international prize in nanotechnology, RUSNANOPRIZE, established in 2009 by RUSNANO. That award recognizes cutting-edge scientific developments in nanotechnology that have demonstrated their practical importance and been implemented in commercial production. In 2013 RUSNANOPRIZE will be awarded in Nanomaterials and Surface Modifications.
RUSNANO has also prepared a complex of programs for primary, secondary and university students who are interested in nanotechnologies. First among them is the exhibition Look, it's-NANO! Vivid demonstrations of natural phenomena can be found at Scientific Battles, a cycle of master classes and during a 90-minute excursion. Younger visitors to Open Innovations will find a multiseries titled Amazing Laboratories. Anatoly Vasserman will be the special guest of this premier, giving voice to the hero of Amazing Laboratories, Professor Onotole.
For young attendees, there will be a game-lecture from eNano. First, students under the emcee's direction will piece together a special prognosis, a road map, of the development of an innovative line of business. The road map will then be publicly discussed, and representatives of nanotechnology companies operating today will add their recommendations.
Open Innovations will also offer an event devoted to collaborations among RUSNANO, the Moscow Innovation Development Centre, and two portfolio projects of RUSNANO-companies Akrilan and Crocus Nano Electronics.
