Russian Pharmaceutical Regulators Attends BioJapan 2013
OREANDA-NEWS. BioJapan 2013 Forum, a lead Asian event in the field of biotechnology, took place in the Japanese city of Yokohama. The forum was attended by the official Russian delegation, which included the representatives of the key state pharmaceutical regulators.
Annual international BioJapan 2013 Forum traditionally demonstrated the latest achievements in the industry, provided an opportunity to communicate with key players in the global bio-industry and established the conditions for the exchange of knowledge and experience, for discussing current industry issues, for development of international business partnership. This year, the Russian discussion panel took place in the framework of event, which was attended by:
Olga Vladimirovna Kochetkova, deputy director of the Innovation Development Department, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development;
Olga Nikolayevna Kolotilova, deputy director of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering Technologies, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade;
Tatyana Vladimirovna Kartavtsova, deputy head of the Department of State Regulation of the Medicines Turnover, the Russian Ministry of Health.
During the panel discussion, the experts presented an overview of the situation on the Russian biopharmaceutical market, as one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical markets, and also analyzed the opportunities for foreign and Russian investors.
According to Olga Kolotilova, a visit of the Russian delegation evidenced a great interest of foreign audiences to Russia, namely to the Russian medical and pharmaceutical developments. “During the event, fruitful business meetings were held, which contributed to further development of international cooperation, in particular, with The Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association and The Japan Bioindustry Association. Also a multimedia exposition was presented on the Russian stand, which showed the latest national developments in the field of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment,” Olga Nikolayevna said.
Tatyana Kartavtsova noted that “in view of the state program Pharma 2020, similar events are regularly held, which allows communicating to the foreign partners and the Russian producers to the fullest extent the features of the regulatory policy in the sphere of state regulation of the drug market”.
Olga Kochetkova drew attention to the fact that the exhibition held in the framework of the forum demonstrated the successes of Russia in the field of biotechnology. There were presented interesting perspective home-grown technology. Foreign companies and associations were informed during the business forum on the mechanisms of the cluster development state support, pharmaceutical production development, conditions of medicines registration in Russia, on possibility of joint research laboratories opening in Russian leading universities, as well as on “entry points” for negotiations opening.
“It would be rational to continue hereafter the practice of Russia’s participation in international exhibitions of biotechnological orientation. We should form a delegation consisting of both representatives of federal and regional executive authorities, and companies, research organizations, industry associations, as well as development institutions,” Olga Vladimirovna said.
The participation of the Russian delegation in BioJapan 2013 was supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade within the framework of the federal target program Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2020 and beyond.
