OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov considers that the Government's strategic task is the support of IT industry as its development in the short term can significantly increase the gross domestic product.

He started this during his visiting of the International Scientific Congress Information Society in Ukraine Tuesday.

“Those efforts, which the Government used to create conditions for the development of IT technologies, are beginning to show results. I'm pleased to see this as the development of information technology and creating products on this basis - it's our strategic goal along with the development of agriculture and the modernization of the economy and industry. This is an area of the internal gross product that can give the most tangible results in the coming years. Therefore our strategic goal is to support the development of this important industry,” Mykola Azarov said.

Meanwhile, PM stressed that the development of information and communication technologies creates new opportunities for communication of citizens with the government authorities, including the Government.

“The Government and local authorities are becoming more accessible and more open to people and it is extremely important,” Mykola Azarov said.
