OREANDA-NEWS. The Company has reported that the Superintendence of Industry and Trade in Colombia has awarded the patent for work conducted with the Universidad de Antioquia titled “process for the modification of zeolite by incorporation of phosphorous in the crystalline structure and catalysts for olefin oligomerization”.

The catalysts developed make it possible to convert products from the refining of petroleum, such as liquefied petroleum gas, into higher value fuels such as diesel and gasoline. Thanks to the process developed by the Universidad de Antioquia-Ecopetrol S.A. agreement, catalysts with a longer life and better properties than those achieved in conventional processes can be obtained.

The patent will be in effect for a term of 20 years starting on December 6, 2010 and it is the second one attained through a technological cooperation agreement. So far this year, it is the seventh patent awarded to the company.
