OREANDA-NEWS. Starting today, owners of smart phones will not need to know the beneficiary's bank account to make a money transfer: the beneficiary's mobile telephone number will do. In order to promote the introduction of new standards in banking, Danske Bank is the first in Lithuania to launch a mobile payment service.

With the use of this service, bank transfers will be completed at the speed of an SMS and free of charge by entering the required amount and the beneficiary's telephone number in a smartphone application. This service is particularly convenient for a circle of close acquaintances when it comes to paying for items purchase jointly, sharing the bill for dinner, or quickly transferring money to children. Mobile payment can be used not only for transfers of money, but also for money orders by specifying the required amount and pressing the confirmation button. Security and reliability of payments is ensured by additionally signing the transaction with a PIN code and allowing the user to set transaction limits himself.

“Danske Bank experience in electronic and mobile banking allows us to offer customers the most state-of-the-art banking solutions. Through the introduction of mobile payment service, we further simplify everyday banking”, Darius Jasinskis, director of Danske Bank Corporate Development, said. Mr Jasinskis emphasised that smartphones account for about 50% of all new telephones sold in Lithuania today, but users make use only of a small portion of their possibilities.

In order to start using the mobile payment service, just select this service on Danske eBank, which links the application on your telephone to the bank account. Mr Jasinskis stated that linking a bank account with a mobile telephone payment application has solved a major problem preventing the development of mobile payments in Lithuania. Now customers do not need to supplement their accounts in advance.

The mobile payment service is provided by Danske Bank in collaboration with the Mokipay mobile wallet. “Customers will get a new, simple method of payment that supplements existing payment channels. This mobile service has been designed by Mokipay and is installed together with the banks, which aim at providing more alternatives to their customers”, Algirdas Baltaduonis, director general of UAB Antigravity Payment Systems, said. According to Mr Baltaduonis, it is sufficient for the user to have the Mokipay application on his telephone.
