USK MOST Completed Preparatory Work in Arctic Port of Sabetta
OREANDA-NEWS. USK MOST Company has completed the preparatory work in the Arctic port of Sabetta under construction. The port is designed for transporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) and providing year-round navigation along the Northern Sea Route.
The work began with the opening of the summer season of 2013, and for a short period of time, from August 2 to October 9, 10 million cubic meters of dredging has been completed.
Dredging of the seaway canal and approach canal will carry in 2014-2016. During this time, up to 70 million cubic meters will be dredged. The seaway canal will 49 kilometers long, 295 meters wide and 15.1 meters deep. The approach canal will be 5.66 kilometers long, 495 meters wide and 15.1 meters deep. The Port of Sabetta will handle LNG carriers of up to 300 meters long and 50 meters wide, having the cargo tanks of up to 170 thousand cubic meters capacity.
The state contract for the work of construction of the sea port facilities near the town of Sabetta during 2013-2019 was awarded exclusively to OJSC USK MOST and OJSC Mezhregiontruboprovodstroy. President of the Russian Federation issued an appropriate executive order based on the conclusions of a meeting dedicated to implementation of the Yamal-SPG Project held on September 26, 2013 in Salekhard.
The Yamal-SPG Project includes construction of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facilities with an annual output of 16.5 million tons of LNG using the resources of the South Tambey field. Proven and probable gas field reserves as of December 31 2012 according to PRMS amount to 907 billion cubic meters. Implementation of the project involves construction of transport infrastructure including the sea port and an airport near the town of Sabetta (in the north-east of the Yamal Peninsula.)
