OREANDA-NEWS. NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport welcomed its three millionth passenger. Transferring via Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport, Nadezhda LISINA,Moscow resident, whoarrived with her son from Bangkok with S7 Airlines Flight 860 and travelled further to Moscow with the Flight 176 operated by the same company, turned to become a lucky passenger.

It is remarkable that the passenger traffic reached 3 million level 46 days ahead of the previous year's result. In 2012 the airport reported its three millionth passenger on 29th October.

“It is quite symbolic, that this year the “milestone” passenger became a transfer one. Thanks to the unique geographical location and innovative infrastructure, NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is transforming into a large transit hub, accessible for both travelers on domestic flights as well as for inbound passengers coming to Russia from abroad and travelling further within the country”, reported the General director of Airport Tolmachevo JSCEvgeniy YANKILEVICH at the official welcome ceremony. He also emphasized that even more passengers choose Novosibirsk airport as a suitable transit point. Transfer passenger traffic already totals about 5% of the overall passenger traffic and is forecast to increase up to 10-12% by 2015.

The general representative of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport andS7 Airlines in Central Asia Evgeniy CHERNYSHOV thanked Nadezhda LISINA for having chosen his airline and wished new exciting tours together with S7.

The milestone passenger was presented with memorable gifts as well as the business lounge certificate. As another privilege from S7 Airlines, the passenger was offered to continue her travel in business class.

Positive production results are also provoked by the airport's effective policies regarding launching new routes and frequencies enhancement on the already operating destinations. Starting this year, the regional route network was extended with the range of flights commenced- to Strezhevoy, Kyzyl, Gorno-Altaysk, Tomsk, Barnaul, Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo and Abakan. Furthermore, flight frequency on both domestic and international routes increased such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Chelyabinsk, Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg, Yakutsk, Yerevan, Urumqi and others. Volume of charter services to the most popular touristic resorts also demonstrated a good score.

Following the results of the first nine months in 2013, NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport served 2,833,302 passengers which is a 14.5% growth, compared to the same period of the previous year. In 2013 Novosibirsk airport forecasts to serve about 3.7 million passengers exceeding overall traffic results of 2012 with more than a 13.3% boost.
