OREANDA-NEWS. OJSC Trubodetal (Chelyabinsk, a CJSC OMK company) announced the interim results of their development program which involves a production system based on lean manufacturing principles.

The plant launched the production system development project in 2012. It includes two areas of operation: the implementation of lean manufacturing elements followed by deployment of a workplace organization and efficiency system, and secondly optimization of process, technology and logistics.

As part of implementing the lean manufacturing system, Trubodetal employees are personally involved in the improvements process. As such, they insure workplace order and the efficiency of workspace application. From time to time, the managing director of the plant inspects and evaluates the results of these measures when he walks around the plant floor. Thanks to this, the enterprise has witnessed better industrial practices and feedback between employees in the workshops and the executives of the plant.

Great levels of efficiency have been demonstrated by the project, partly because workers and utility experts report production problems and propose solutions to Trubodetal executives via a standardized feedback form. It allows the plant to efficiently identify and promptly tackle many ongoing matters. The employees have proposed 89 optimization projects in two months, 44 of which were implemented.

Executives, technical experts, and workers regularly take part in production efficiency improvement and enhancement events. Thus, the plant creates flow diagrams, thanks to which every employee sees how materials are moved and information is shared in the making of products at the company. Such diagrams will allow the plant to considerably reduce the production cycle timeline.
