Ukraine to Elaborate State Program of Resumption of Cargo Shipping
OREANDA-NEWS. On commission of the President the Government will elaborate in short terms an action plan on renewal of infrastructure and fleet to maintain river transportation and approve a state program of resumption of cargo shipping in the Dnipro basin. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov announced during the session of the Cabinet of Ministers on October 17, 2013.
In the course of a session of the Regions’ Council held on October 16 the Head of the country noted: it is hardly enough to grow and gather record harvest – it has to be processed and preserved.
Mykola Azarov noted that present motor and railway transport had been involved in full. But the potential of water transport is not still used properly. And it is at the fact that Ukraine possesses a unique transport artery – the Dnipro, located perfectly along the export route of grain. Moreover, it is the cheapest way of transporting grain crops and other kinds of bulk cargoes.
“On commission of the President we have to elaborate the action plan in shortest terms in order to resume infrastructure and fleet to maintain river conveyance. Hence, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food and Ministry of Industrial Policy are obliged to elaborate and submit for considering by the Cabinet of Ministers the state program of resumption of cargo shipping in the Dnipro basin – in the first place for the needs of agrarian production,” Mykola Azarov summed up.
